At ReturnsX, your privacy, security, and trust are our highest priorities. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you install or use the ReturnsX Shopify app ("App"), and when you access our platform or services.

ReturnsX is designed to help merchants identify high-risk customers, prevent fraudulent Cash on Delivery (COD) orders, and manage return accountability across the e-commerce ecosystem โ€” without compromising on data integrity or user privacy.

1. Information We Collect

a. Shopify Store Data

When you install the ReturnsX app, we securely access certain Shopify store information, such as:

  • Store name, email, and contact information
  • Orders (including order ID, status, payment type, and fulfillment data)
  • Customer details (name, email, contact number, order history)
  • Product and inventory details necessary to identify and manage returns

We only access the data required to perform fraud detection, customer scoring, and return analytics.

b. Customer & Order Behavior Data

To assess potential return or delivery abuse, we may collect and process:

  • Order frequency, payment type, and delivery outcomes
  • Return requests, disputes, and fulfillment feedback
  • Device, location, and session data (non-personal) to detect suspicious patterns

This data helps us build a fair and reliable accountability system for all merchants using ReturnsX.

c. App Usage Data

We automatically collect technical data such as:

  • API requests, timestamps, and app interactions
  • Error logs and performance metrics
  • Browser type, operating system, and access times

This helps us maintain app stability, diagnose issues, and improve performance.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Fraud & Return Risk Analysis: ReturnsX uses the collected data to evaluate customer credibility, detect repeated failed deliveries, and flag potentially abusive behavior.
  • Merchant Insights & Scoring: We aggregate data to generate risk scores and insights, helping merchants make informed decisions about accepting or rejecting COD orders.
  • Performance Improvement: We analyze anonymized usage trends to enhance fraud detection accuracy and platform efficiency.
  • Accountability Framework: ReturnsX ensures that every parcel is tracked responsibly โ€” from dispatch to delivery or return โ€” so that merchants and customers remain accountable for legitimate activity.

3. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. ReturnsX only shares data when absolutely necessary to provide our services:

  • With Shopify: For seamless integration and order synchronization.
  • With Logistics Partners (if applicable): For verification of delivery and return status.
  • With Data Processors: Only trusted partners under strict data protection agreements.

All third parties are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations consistent with this policy and applicable laws.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

  • Data is retained only for as long as necessary to provide fraud detection, scoring, and analytics services.
  • When you uninstall the ReturnsX app, all store access is immediately revoked, and any personally identifiable data is deleted within 7 business days.
  • Aggregated or anonymized insights may be retained for system improvement and benchmarking.

5. Data Security

We employ industry-leading security measures to protect your information, including:

  • AES-256 encryption for all stored data
  • Secure HTTPS and TLS protocols for data transmission
  • Role-based access control for all internal systems
  • Continuous monitoring and vulnerability testing

We never access or expose customer data beyond the operational scope of ReturnsX.

6. GDPR & International Compliance

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or handle EU customer data, ReturnsX complies with GDPR and other applicable privacy regulations.

You have the following rights:

  • Right to Rectification: Correct inaccuracies in your data.

7. Your Control

  • Uninstalling the ReturnsX app instantly revokes all access to your Shopify store.
  • You can request full deletion of your associated data at any time.
  • ReturnsX does not retain or process any personal information beyond what is necessary for legitimate fraud prevention.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features, legal requirements, or security improvements. All changes will be reflected on this page with the updated "Effective Date."
